Awards and Bursaries

The Branch awards annual prizes for bibliographic work and biannual awards for service excellence, as well as facilitating bursaries for attendance at IAML conferences.

IAML (UK & Irl) awards two annual prizes. Certificates are also awarded every two years for excellence of achievement by institutions and individuals.

  • The C.B. Oldman Award is for an outstanding work of music bibliography, music reference or music librarianship.
  • The E.T. Bryant Memorial Prize is for a significant contribution to the literature of music librarianship.
  • The Excellence Award acknowledges activity in music libraries that demonstrates sustained good work and good practice, with the potential to be adopted and adapted by others, as well as recognizing outstanding personal achievement by individuals

The Branch facilitates limited bursaries toward attendance at the IAML (UK & Irl) ASW and the IAML international congress.

  • MLT bursaries are provided to support attendance at an Annual Study Weekend (ASW)
  • The Ian Ledsham Bursary supports attendance at the IAML international congress.
