Music has always been a significant part of my life. I read Music at Bretton Hall College HE as a first study clarinettist giving many performances, most notably at the Edinburgh Festival. I began my library career at Bretton Hall and during my time there qualified as a librarian. I am currently Subject Librarian for Music, Media and Linguistics at the University of Huddersfield where the Music Library holds an IAML (UK & Irl) Excellence Award. I worked closely with Sound and Music to bring the British Music Collection to the University and continue to work with the University Archives promoting this collection by curating exhibitions for the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival. I am also involved in the University of Huddersfield's Centre for Research in New Music research outputs in new music. I recently gained a PGCHE and am currently studying for a CMI qualification. I have been a member of the Executive Committee for six years, have served on the Courses and Education Committee and been Membership Secretary since 2016. I’m also a member of CILIP, the HEA and the CMI. I hope to continue making a difference in preserving, safeguarding and promoting music collections for future generations.
