Due to COVID19, IAML (UK & Ireland) offered a "Virtual Annual Study Event" [VASE21] this year instead of our usual Annual Study Weekend. VASE21 took place over 3 weekdays (Tuesday-Thursday, 13-15 April), which seemed to suit the majority of attendees. Although the meeting happened entirely over Zoom, we tried to preserve the flavour of our traditional, in-person Annual Study Weekends by organising discussion roundtables, "hot topics" sessions, social time, and a series of presentations that all in some way had to do with the overall event theme, which was "Music happens in performance". Feedback from attendees since the meeting suggests that we succeeded.
We still hope that the April 2022 Annual Study Weekend, planned to take place in Oxford (at St Anne's College), will be able to go ahead as an in-person event, and plans for that meeting are already well under way. After that, there is the 2023 international IAML conference in Cambridge to look forward to.
Thanks to everyone who contributed in any way to VASE21, whether as a speaker or attendee. We had 77 people sign up, including many public librarians, which was particularly good to see.
Presentations deliverd at VASE21 can be viewed by logged-in members in the Members' area.
