Grant for a Master’s thesis on Gladys Nordenstrom Krenek

Gladys Nordenstrom Krenek (1924-2016) was a composer and teacher and devoted herself to the management of the artistic and intellectual legacy of her husband Ernst Krenek after his death. Her efforts led to the establishment of the Ernst-Krenek-Institute-Private-Foundation in 2004. It preserves Krenek’s extensive estate, and continues the founder’s dedication to promoting Krenek’s work. She was awarded with the Grand Decoration of Honor for Services to the Republic of Austria in 2006, and the Grand Decoration of Honor for Service to the State of Lower Austria in 2014.

After her deat,h numerous new items were added to the collection of the archive of the Ernst-Krenek- Institute-Private-Foundation. These include many materials that document the life and work of Gladys Nordenstrom Krenek, and have not yet been researched.

To encourage the research on Gladys Nordenstrom Krenek, the Ernst-Krenek-Institute-Private- Foundation is awarding a one-time grant. This is to support a master thesis on Gladys Nordenstrom Krenek, who would have celebrated her 100th birthday in 2024. The grant includes a stipend of EUR 1.500.- and the coverage of a research stay at the Ernst-Krenek-Institute in Krems an der Donau (travel and accommodation expenses up to max. EUR 1.500.-). The master thesis can be written either in German or English.
