IAML (UK & Irl) is able to provide limited assistance for attendance of the Annual Study Weekend and the annual international congress.
The Music Libraries Trust (MLT) provides a limited number of bursaries to attend the IAML (UK & Irl) Annual Study Weekend. Invitations to apply are published each year in advance publicity for the ASW, the Newsletter and the iaml-uk-irl email list.
Ian Ledsham Bursary Fund
The Ian Ledsham Bursary Fund exists to honour the memory of Ian Ledsham, a long-standing and much respected member of the UK & Ireland Branch of IAML, who died as the result of a road accident in September 2005. It offers financial support to Branch members who wish to attend IAML's international congress. Ian very much appreciated the opportunities provided by attendance at these congresses, and it is therefore fitting that the Branch should try to enable deserving members to attend.
Applicants must be paid-up personal or institutional members of the Branch (as defined in the UK & Ireland Branch Constitution Article XVI) at the point at which the application is made. Preference will be given to applicants who are active within the Branch.
People funded on special projects will normally be excluded from applying.
The award is meant to contribute toward the cost of attending the congress, not to cover all expenses. Subsistence costs will not be reimbursed.
Candidates should be able to demonstrate what benefits would be gained for themselves and their institution by attending the congress.
It would normally be expected that the applicant's institution will grant leave to attend the congress. Any letters of institutional support would be welcomed as part of the application.
Successful candidates are required to write a report of their attendance at the congress, to be sent to the General Secretary within four weeks of the end of the congress. The Executive Committee reserves the right to publish all or part of the report in the Branch's Newsletter.
