Ruth Walters

Development Manager (Culture and Wellbeing), Westminster Libraries

I am a music graduate and post graduate in Library and Information Science and I have spent all my professional career working in public music libraries; most notably Westminster Music Library, joining as Deputy Librarian in 1989 and becoming Westminster Library's Music Services Manager in 2017.

During the course of working for Westminster I have established a number of successful partnerships: Open Age, the Bridge Community Project, Streetwise Opera, The Family Arts Project, Making Music UK, WCC Armed Forces and The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Through these partnerships the library offers free recitals, music workshops and work experience for local residents, families and schools.

I have been a member of IAML’s Trade and Copyright working group since 2011 and was elected to the IAML executive committee in 2013.
