Peter Linnitt is the Librarian at the Royal College of Music in London.

Peter has worked across 3 different areas of music librarianship. His first job was as the Music Librarian in the London Borough of Merton. After a few years he moved to the BBC Central Music Library, initially supplying performing sets for the BBC Singers and production scores to Radio 3. Over time he became manager of the BBC Central Music Library with responsibility for sheet music, music information and recorded music for the home and world services. In 2011, he moved to his present role at the RCM Library where he manages the service with the support of a dedicated and knowledgeable team.
Unlike his earlier roles, the RCM Library has a greater focus on solo and chamber music and holds one of the UK’s most extensive research collections. The library therefore supports staff and students during their courses, the college’s performance programme and researchers from across the globe.
Peter became a IAML member in the mid-1990s when, as a lone music librarian, he was able to draw on the support of colleagues from across the country. He soon became the Minutes Secretary for the Executive Committee. Since then he has been the Branch Treasurer and an elected member of the Executive Committee.

In addition to his work with the Branch he supports the work in music libraries as a Director of the Central Music Library Ltd which supports the work of the Westminster Music Library and as a Trustee of NewSPAL (the New Surrey Performing Arts Library).
