The following is a guest post from Richard L. Jones, Librarian, Barbican Music Library:

After being contacted by Decca Records, Barbican Music Library recently hosted a filming session featuring the pianist, Isata Kanneh-Mason, which resulted in an Instagram video. A graduate of the Royal Academy of Music and the eldest of seven musically gifted siblings, she has recorded four solo albums, been the recipient of many awards, and is in high demand from concert halls and orchestras worldwide. In the video Isata discusses her favourite composers, and the repertoire which she is currently working on and performing. She also talks about her preference for using printed sheet music rather than playing off an iPad, and how great it is that you can borrow music for free from libraries. In an era of public sector cuts, it is a very positive message!
