Greetings and Happy New Year from the Conference Committee!

If you haven’t yet heard, the registration booking form for the 2014 ASW in Cambridge is now live on the IAML UK & Irl website. Run, don’t walk, and grab a place now for this amazing 48-hour affair!

What is the ASW, you say? Why, the Annual Study Weekend, of course– our national conference!

Each year we try to do things a little differently, and this coming year in Cambridge (Palm Sunday Weekend 11-13 April 2014) will be no exception with the trial of a new 48-hour format. We hope you like the new set up, and if this ASW will be your first, we hope YOU enjoy it, as well!

Don’t forget to take a look at the fantastic joined-up events and visits on offer both before and after the ASW! And if you’re on a tight budget or schedule, please consider our half-conference and day delegate options.

…Now, while I’ve got you here, I thought I’d take a moment to have you gaze into my crystal ball…

That’s right, this is a reminder that if you haven’t yet had a chance, please take a moment to visit our survey on the future of the ASW. When all’s said and done, we’re right chuffed with the continuing evolution of the event and hope you agree with us that it just keeps getting better and better.

The thing is though, that progress needs momentum, and that’s why we’re already looking ahead to 2015 and beyond. We want to know about you– what is your job role? what sector are you working in? what sort of things do YOU most want to see in an ASW? To that end, we’ve created a little 10-question survey – now expired.

Please take a moment to fill it out, and then please pass it on to your friends, colleagues, that lady who sings a little on the flat side next to you in choir… we’d like to hear from as many people as possible who are involved in supporting the use of music information resources.

The other thing we could really use your help with is participation in the Conference Committee. I’ll be stepping down from the Committee after Cambridge, and the group is looking for anyone (as many people as possible, really) who’d be interested in sharing and generating ideas during the planning stages, and then to help keep things running smoothly during the actual event. If you’ve ever been interested in getting more involved in the Branch or just IAML in general, this is a great way to get your feet wet, and there’s always a tremendous sense of satisfaction at the conclusion of every ASW.

Thanks for your time, and I look forward to seeing you in Cambridge!
