“Have you got a piano reduction of the Bach Double?”
“Do you have a set that goes with the Watkins Shaw Messiah?”
“I’m looking for the Choral for easy piano”
“Is the Robbins Landon Clock Urtext?”
Do you panic when your readers come in with questions like that? Do you really know your Massenet from your Mass in A? Do you find yourself dealing with music materials but don’t have a musical background?
Our course “Music for the Terrified” is just for you. Designed for those who dread those enquiries from musicians who seem to be speaking a foreign language, this course aims to demystify the lingo and set you up with the skills to deal with music collections and their users. It introduces you to the terminology, the importance of different formats and editions, and offers resources which can help you navigate the musical minefield.
IAML (UK & Irl) is running this course at Leeds City Library on 8 November. You can read more details about it here.
